CHURCH OF SAN PLÁCIDO

Description

The Monastery of San Plácido belongs to the Benedictine order. After the church was closed to visitors for four centuries, it has now opened for cultural tours.

Discover the finest church of the Madrid Baroque, the place with the largest collection of works by Claudio Coello in the world, highlighting the nearly seven-meter-high painting of the Annunciation on the main altar. The famous Christ by Diego Velázquez once hung on its walls. It also features impressive pictorial works by Francisco Rizi and sculptures by Manuel Pereira and Gregorio Fernández.

General Admission: 12,00 € (audioguide rental included in the ticket).
Guided Tour from Tuesday to Saturday: 12:00 pm. Guided Tour Fee: 10,00 €.

Programme of visits to be completed within a 48-hour period, which includes the joint visit to: the Church of San Antonio de los Alemanes, the Royal Monastery of the Comendadoras de Santiago, and the Church of San Plácido. The visits will be available from Tuesday to Saturday at various times
